EDUMARK MENTOR · COMING SOON

Office hours that never close.

A one-minute look at how a tutor’s own Mentor answers learners’ questions about their feedback. It plays by itself. No sound.

How it works

Five minutes to set up.
Every evening covered.

Each tutor gets their own Mentor. It learns how they mark from their real feedback, then explains that feedback to their learners whenever they ask.

  1. Step 1 · 5 minutes

    The tutor answers ten questions

How they explain things, what they watch for and how much help a draft should get. Mentor reads their past feedback for the rest.

  2. Step 2 · optional

They add their voice, if they want

A minute of reading aloud. Replies can then play in an AI copy of their voice, always labelled as AI.

  3. Step 3 · one switch

They switch it on for their groups

Learners see “Grace’s Mentor” on their feedback and in Check my work. It stays off until the tutor says so.

What changes

Better for everyone
around the feedback.

Learners

  • Answers at 11pm, about their own feedback, not a generic chatbot’s guess.
  • Hints that get them there. Mentor never writes the work for them.
  • A real person when it matters. Disputes and personal matters go to the tutor.

Educators

  • Fewer “quick questions” waiting in the inbox on Monday.
  • See who’s stuck before the resubmission, not after.
  • Your standards, explained the way you’d explain them.

Centres

  • Support that grows with your learner numbers, without new hires.
  • Every conversation summarised and kept with the learner’s record.
  • Your limits on how much help a draft can get.
Built to be trusted

Helpful. Honest.
Always labelled.

Mentor helps learners understand feedback. It never decides a mark and never pretends to be the tutor.

Always labelled as AI

Learners see “Grace’s Mentor”, never “Grace”. An AI voice is marked “AI voice” every time it plays.

Never writes their work

Hints, questions and examples on a different topic. Your centre sets how far help on a draft can go.

Never decides a mark

Marks come from tutors. A disputed mark goes straight to the tutor with a summary.

Hands over when it should

Extensions, anything personal, or a learner stuck after three tries goes to a person.

Learners choose what’s shared

Tutors see a short summary unless the learner keeps a chat private. Draft checks stay private.

Tutors stay in control

Taking part is the tutor’s choice. They can change their answers, switch Mentor off or delete their voice at any time.

The questions centres ask

Before you switch it on.

Can we use Mentor today?

Not yet. EduMark Mentor is coming soon, and pilot centres get it first. Today, learners can already ask Aurora about their feedback and use Check my work before they hand in. See marking in EduMark today.

Does Mentor write learners’ work?

No. It explains the tutor’s feedback, asks questions and gives hints. The most it can show is an example sentence on a different topic, and only if your centre allows it.

Does it mark or change grades?

No. Marks always come from your tutors. Mentor explains feedback a tutor has already given, and passes any disagreement about a mark to that tutor.

Is it really the tutor?

No. It’s an AI that learned from the tutor’s marking, and it always says so. Learners see “Grace’s Mentor” and an “AI voice” label.

Who sees the conversations?

The tutor sees a short summary of each chat unless the learner keeps it private. Anything the learner asks to pass on always reaches the tutor. Draft checks in Check my work stay private unless the learner shares them.

What happens to a tutor’s voice recording?

Recording a voice is optional and needs the tutor’s own consent. The AI voice only ever reads Mentor’s replies. The tutor can delete it at any time, and it’s removed from our voice provider too.

What does Mentor learn from?

The tutor’s feedback, the changes they made to AI draft marks, their answers to the setup questions and the unit’s criteria. It doesn’t use other tutors’ marking.
