Aurora · EduMark’s AI

Meet Aurora. It marks. It manages. It teaches.

Aurora is the AI built into EduMark. It drafts marks and feedback for every submission, runs the day-to-day of the platform alongside your team, and gives every learner a patient tutor — while people approve what matters.

One AI, connected across EduMark
Four systems · one intelligence

The work around the teaching, handled.

Aurora knows your EduMark: your courses, cohorts, deadlines and marking guides. It uses that to do real work across the platform, with you in charge of every decision that counts.

01

Marks

You approve

Aurora reads every submission against your marking guide and drafts a mark and feedback for each answer, showing the evidence it used. Your markers review, edit and approve.

  • Every answer, drafted. Objective questions scored exactly; written answers judged criterion by criterion.
  • Needs you, never zero. Anything it can’t read is flagged for a person, not given an automatic zero.
  • Work from outside EduMark. Upload completed work and Aurora extracts the questions and answers for you to confirm.
  • Find the right sample. Describe what you need in your own words for second marking and moderation.
02

Manages

Asks first

Ask in plain English, by text or voice. Aurora finds what you need across courses, cohorts and deadlines, then does the work — and asks before anything that matters.

  • Schedules. Books, moves and cancels live sessions, and runs recurring tasks on your timetable.
  • Announces. Drafts announcements, newsletters, reminders and replies for you to send.
  • Acts. Publishes assignments, finalises grades and invites learners when you confirm.
  • Keeps going. Longer tasks run in the background and tell you when they’re done.
03

Teaches

Never does assessed work

Every learner gets a patient study partner that works from their own course — explaining, questioning and helping them practise until it sticks.

  • Explains. Simply, with another example, as a summary, or as a quick quiz.
  • Practises. Fresh questions with hints that don’t give the answer away — even from a photo of handwritten working.
  • Studies. Flashcards, concept maps, teach-it-back, games and audio lessons. In beta.
  • Steps back. Switched off in protected assessments, and never writes work that will be marked.
04

Builds

You publish

Give Aurora a brief, a specification or your existing documents. It builds a draft course in visible stages and turns your papers into ready-to-check questions.

  • Courses from a brief. Links, files, images and scanned pages become an unpublished draft course.
  • Questions from documents. Upload an assessment and Aurora turns it into EduMark questions for you to check.
  • Better words, in place. Clearer, shorter, more detailed or rewritten for learners, on any field.
  • Every change undoable. Draft edits come with an undo receipt. Nothing goes live until you publish.
Just ask

Say what you need. Aurora does the rest.

Type or talk to Aurora from any page. It works out the steps, does them with the tools your role allows, and stops for your yes before anything that matters.

Marking

Every submission marked. Every result approved.

Aurora does the reading, scoring and first-draft feedback. Your markers do what only they can: check, adjust and sign off. A suggestion never releases a result.

  1. Learner

    Submitted

Typed answers, uploads, or completed work from outside EduMark.

  2. Aurora

    Read

Your marking guide, the criteria and every answer.

  3. Aurora

    Scored

Objective questions exactly. Written answers criterion by criterion.

  4. Aurora

    Drafted

A proposed mark and feedback, with the evidence used.

  5. Your marker

    Approved

Reviewed, edited and approved, question by question.

  6. EduMark

    Released

Feedback reaches the learner, only after approval.

Evidence on every mark

Each proposal shows the criteria and the evidence behind it, so a marker can check it rather than redo it.

Needs you, never zero

Unreadable or unclear answers are flagged “needs you” for a person. Aurora never fills the gap with a zero.

Your call, per assignment

Choose AI-assisted or human-only marking for each assignment, with an organisation default set by your administrators.

Agreement you can see

Track how often markers keep Aurora’s proposals, so trust is earned in the open.

Agentic by design

It doesn’t just answer. It gets things done.

Aurora works with the same tools and permissions as the person using it — scheduling, messaging, publishing and building across EduMark.

    Notifies you

Aurora acts, you decide. “Ask before actions” is the default: anything that schedules, sends, publishes or finalises waits for a confirmation. People who want Aurora to move faster can turn on Full access, which needs explicit consent and switches itself off if their permissions change. Submitting an assessment on a learner’s behalf is always blocked.

For learners

A tutor that never runs out of patience.

Learners get help in the moment, on the lesson in front of them — explained their way, practised until it sticks, and always grounded in their own course.

  • Lesson help

Explain it simply, give another example, quiz me or summarise — on the lesson they’re reading.

  • Practice that coaches

Fresh questions, hints that don’t give the answer away, and feedback learners can share with their tutor.

  • Study, their way

Flashcards, quizzes, concept maps, teach-it-back, fill-the-gaps, games and audio lessons. In beta.

  • Aurora Interactive

Small hands-on apps built from a lesson or a practice question. In beta.

I don’t get the hierarchy of control. Can you explain it simply?

Think of it as a ladder. Start at the top: can you remove the hazard altogether? If not, swap it for something safer, then separate people from it, then change how the work is done — and only then reach for PPE.From this lesson · section 2

You stay in command

It can do the work. You stay in control.

Aurora is powerful because it is careful. These guarantees are built into how it works, not bolted on.

Asks before it acts

Scheduling, sending, publishing and grading wait for a yes. Full access is opt-in, needs explicit consent and resets if your permissions change.

Only what you can see

Aurora works with exactly what your account can already access, and answers from your data with sources you can check.

Stop and undo

Draft edits come with an undo receipt. When Aurora works in the page, Stop and Undo stay on screen.

Every action recorded

Actions are audited, and a conversation locks if someone’s permissions change part-way through.

Fair to assessment

Aurora won’t write assessed work, is switched off in protected assessments, and only helps in an assessment its author allows.

Administrators decide

Turn Aurora on or off per person. Choose AI-assisted or human-only marking per assignment.

Questions about Aurora

Does Aurora release marks on its own?

No. Aurora drafts a mark and feedback for each answer and shows the evidence it used. A marker reviews, edits and approves every question before anything is released to a learner.

Can Aurora take actions without asking?

Not by default. With “Ask before actions”, anything that schedules, sends, publishes or changes a grade waits for your confirmation. Draft course and assessment edits happen straight away with an undo. People can choose Full access, which needs explicit consent and resets if their permissions change.

What can Aurora see?

Only what the person using it can already see in EduMark. Answers come from your organisation’s data with sources, and text inside pages and files is treated as untrusted information rather than as instructions.

Can learners use Aurora to do their assessments?

No. Aurora won’t write work that will be marked, it’s switched off during protected assessments, and it only helps inside an assessment when the author has allowed it.

Can I talk to Aurora?

Yes. Type in the side panel or full-screen view, or have a spoken conversation. Aurora also appears in place, with “Ask Aurora” and writing help inside the features you already use.

Does Aurora detect plagiarism or AI writing?

That’s EduMark Integrity, which is built into marking. Aurora can tell you the status of an integrity check, but it never treats similarity as proof of misconduct.

Which plan includes Aurora?

Aurora and AI marking are part of Core plus AI. Administrators choose who has access.
