Updated 2026-10-13. External AI services prepare drafts and review evidence; educators decide final assessment results.
A new provider handles learner data only after the required contractual, transfer, retention and customer-notice checks. Customers receive notice and can raise an objection under their agreement.
OpenAI
Status: Current provider
Purpose: AI assistance, assessment drafts and review, live voice, transcription, read aloud, images, embeddings and moderation.
Processing location: United States for the standard API endpoint. European processing applies only to separately approved regional configurations.
Transfer and contract requirements: Applicable data-processing terms and an appropriate UK transfer safeguard are required for processing outside the UK.
Training and retention: API customer content is not used for model training by default. Provider abuse-monitoring retention is separate from response storage.
Xiaomi MiMo via DeepInfra
Status: Planned route; learner-data activation requires approval
Purpose: Text assistance, content generation, document review and assessment proposals after their quality gate.
Processing location: United States (DeepInfra). The planned route does not use a China endpoint.
Transfer and contract requirements: A signed DeepInfra DPA, UK transfer mechanism and written retention confirmation are required before learner data is sent.
Training and retention: Zero-retention and no-training terms must be confirmed in the applicable contract before activation.
Anthropic (Claude)
Status: Integration disabled; learner-data activation requires approval
Purpose: Fallback for text assistance, document review and structured assessment drafts.
Processing location: United States inference and storage for the planned configuration.
Transfer and contract requirements: Applicable commercial DPA, UK transfer safeguard, retention arrangements and customer notice are required before activation.
Training and retention: Commercial API no-training terms apply; zero data retention requires separate agreement.
Google Gemini on Vertex AI
Status: Integration disabled; learner-data activation requires approval
Purpose: Fallback for text assistance, document review and structured assessment drafts.
Processing location: European Economic Area processing through the pinned EU endpoint; the United Kingdom is excluded.
Transfer and contract requirements: Google Cloud data-processing terms, an approved EU project configuration and applicable UK transfer safeguards are required before activation.
Training and retention: Google Cloud enterprise no-training terms apply; response caching and abuse-monitoring settings require separate review.
