Billing and credits
Prepaid API balance, paying with your paid credits, bulk bonus, limits and alerts.
How you pay
API calls are priced in EduMark credits, using the same rate card as the platform. One credit is 10p of API balance. Marking one submission is 10 credits, so £1.00 a submission.
- API balance. Top up in pounds (from £20.00 to £5,000 at a time). Each job holds its price while it runs and is charged only when it succeeds.
- Use credits towards API. Switch this on and jobs spend your centre’s paid credits first, then your API balance. Free starter and goodwill credits are never used for the API.
- Sandbox keys are free, on every plan.
Bulk bonus
Bigger top-ups buy credits at a lower price, and your balance is always credited at the full 10p a credit. For example, paying £90 for 1,000 credits gives you £100 of balance.

Limits, alerts and automatic top-ups
- A monthly spending limit (default £100) covers both balance and credits. Jobs that would go over it are refused with
402 API_SPEND_LIMIT_REACHED. - Alerts are emailed at 50%, 80% and 100% of the limit, and when your balance runs low.
- Automatic top-up refills your balance from your saved card when it drops below a threshold, never past a monthly cap you set.
- Every job shows
credits,payment_sourceand, once settled, what was charged.
